These are tests to access fetal well-being. They are usually indicated when there are pregnancy complications that can increase the risk of stillbirth. Things such as maternal heart conditions, diabetes, hypertension, COVID infection, post-term pregnancy, multiple gestation, or decreased fetal movement. The testing usually starts at 32 weeks gestation or whenever the diagnosis or complication is made. They are usually performed once or twice a week until your baby is delivered. Your provider might determine that this additional testing is necessary for your pregnancy.
