Dr. Laurie Allen is a practicing Goodyear OB/GYN  since 2009, where she enjoys establishing relationships with her patients and caring for women throughout their life. She has always been interested in the medical field, especially women’s care and surgery. Nurtured by opportunities in high school and college through volunteer and shadowing experiences led her to apply to medical school after finishing her Bachelor’s degree from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. She was encouraged by a mentor to apply for Osteopathic Medical School.  This allows for specializing in a particular area of medicine yet is a whole-person approach to care and promotes the body’s natural tendency to self-heal through different avenues.  There is a strong focus on prevention of illness and symptoms by taking into account lifestyle and environmental factors. She values listening to and partnering with patients in their care, offering many options to aid their path to health. After completing her medical school training in Des Moines, she then relocated to York, Pennsylvania where she completed an Internship and Residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She received the Louis Hellman Obstetrics and Gynecology award.
As a New Mexico native, she desired to return to the desert (and warmer!) climate therefore bringing her to Arizona to start her career in the East Valley.  Shortly after, she met her now husband, and eventually relocated to the West Valley in 2012.
A dream of hers has always been to offer a place for women where a comprehensive and safe visit can occur, allowing for them to understand their care and own health.  She loves to see the joy on new parents’ faces as their precious baby is born, and the thankfulness on the face of a woman who has found relief in a gynecological treatment.
Spending time with her husband laughing at his jokes, hiking and scuba diving (particularly if it involves traveling) are some of her favorite activities.  She has been described as kind, calming, and patient.
